In Guji, Ethiopia, ancient communities thrive alongside abundant coffee trees in untouched forests. The traditional farming methods prevail, with Anferara producers tending to coffee trees in high-altitude, shaded environments. The rich soil and self-sustaining terroir, nourished by natural compost from local flora, contribute to the exceptional quality of the coffee. Smallholders of MB Coffee PLC, led by Berehane Asamenew, manage a 72-hectare farm using organic practices and traditional processing techniques. Collaborating with 300 local farmers, they prioritize education and sustainability throughout the coffee production process. Cherries are carefully handpicked, sorted, and naturally processed, resulting in high-scoring coffee lots.
