The Ristretto is an espresso like drink that has a different grinds-to-drink ratio than espresso. The word “Ristretto” means shortened or narrow, that technically means that it is a shorter more concentrated espresso coffee. It’s good to know that the French call a Ristretto a “café serré” in case you are visiting.

Brew ratio: Typically, you’ll try to aim for a 1:1-1,5 ratio.

You’ll try to keep the rest of the parameters the same as with espresso. Meaning the brew temperature, brew time and pressure will not change.

Expert tip: This can be established by a finer grind size, which will restrict the flow.
