Cortado

Cortado is the past tense of the verb Cortar in Spanish and means “cut out” in the sense of diluting with milk. The Cortado is very similar to the traditional Caffe Macchiato but due to its variation in the espresso and milk ratio, the drink can be considered less strong than a Macchiato. In France, they call it the “Café noisette” and in case you were wondering why “noisette” (hazelnut): it refer to the nutty color of the coffee.


Workflow
Brew ratio: Aim for a 1:1-3 ratio between espresso and milk.
